Want More Spring in your Step?

It’s getting warmer out! That means our bodies are getting out of hibernation, warming up,
and shedding off that numbing seasonal depression.

Getting your energy back can take some time, but hopefully these tips can help you get back to your bright, energetic summer self again!

Ditch the Stress

Stress is something that some of us think we don’t have control over, but we do!

Ways you could de-stress:

Move your body!

Over time, humans are constantly researching, learning, and reaffirming that our bodies & minds are more connected than we think!

better mind, better body
better body, better mind

A few other benefits to moving your body:

  • It gets your blood moving (build your immunity & get your organs working for your at their best!)

  • It helps you stay out of the freeze reaction in moments of trauma/stress and avoid extra pain developing in your body.

  • You can improve your circulation, stability, balance.

  • It strengthens your muscles.

Get good sleep

Deep sleep, which is different than REM sleep, enhances your ability to make ATP, which is the energy molecule.

Not only does deep sleep help with your energy, but it’s also incredibly beneficial for your digestion, immunity, and memory!
You’ll also feel very refreshed when you wake up!

Ways to get better sleep:

  • Stick to a sleep schedule

  • Turn off distractions (phone, TV)

  • Stretch before bed

  • Exercise during the day

  • Don’t have caffeine late in the day

  • Try some breathing exercises

Drink Water

One of the easiest things we can do for our energy (and our health, in general) is drink plenty of water! Water keeps our muscles energized!

Being dehydrated can cause fatigue or low energy. It can also make us more prone to UTI’s, muscle pains, and having weaker muscles.

Along with this, avoid alcohol! It can give you a boost for short time, but will drag you down after with dehydration and fatigue.

Eat healthy & energy-conscious

Food IS energy for our bodies! So, to make sure you’re giving yourself the right food for the right amount of energy, follow these tips:

  • Eat less sugar (especially refined sugar)

  • Eat less foods with a higher glycemic index (anything that’s high in carbohydrates like bread, pasta, cereal, etc)

  • Eat more foods with a lower glycemic index (fruits, vegetables, grains, and healthy fats like avocado & olive oil)
